Immersive Virtual Reality Orientation for ITS MOST in Ortona
Innovation and technology supporting education!
- Sector: Education & Digital Innovation
- Client: Higher Technical Institute for Sustainable Mobility (ITS MOST) in Ortona
- Collaboration: Polo Inoltra
- Initiative: Futura – School for Italy of Tomorrow, PNRR
Virtual reconstruction of environments
In an era where digitalization is central to education policies, we developed a project that combines technological innovation with student orientation for ITS MOST in Ortona. In collaboration with Polo Inoltra and within the framework of Mission 4 of the PNRR – Education and Research, we created an immersive 3D platform that allows students to digitally explore the Interporto facilities. This virtual environment, designed for the Futura – School for Italy of Tomorrow initiative, serves as a powerful orientation tool, offering a realistic and engaging overview of the educational and professional context awaiting students.
Immersive and interactive orientation
The main objective of the project is to turn orientation into an active and immersive first experience. Through the 3D platform, students can interactively explore the Interporto d’Abruzzo environment and gain a clearer understanding of the opportunities offered by the ITS, with a virtual preview of study areas and potential career paths.
Key objectives:
Provide an immersive and engaging experience that makes ITS pathways easier to understand.
Increase accessibility to information, allowing students to become familiar with spaces and programs remotely.
Support innovation in the education sector, in line with the PNRR strategy to accelerate the digital transformation of the Italian school system.
From space mapping to 3D model development: phases and technologies
The creation of this 3D virtual environment required an in-depth study of the institute’s spaces and educational pathways, along with a strong focus on immersive technologies.
Space surveying and mapping: The first phase involved a detailed survey of the Interporto facilities to ensure that the 3D reconstruction accurately reflected the real-world structures.
3D model development: Using advanced 3D modeling technologies, we recreated the environments with a high level of visual accuracy, making the exploration experience as realistic and intuitive as possible.
Interactivity and user experience: To enhance engagement, we introduced interactive elements such as virtual guides, descriptions of different study paths, and dedicated information areas where students can explore additional educational materials.
