    Enhancing the Village Through Technology

The project was launched with the aim of revitalizing a territory rich in historical, cultural, and environmental assets that are currently underutilized. The focus on enhancement served as the foundation to achieve specific goals, such as increasing and extending tourist visits throughout the year, boosting employment opportunities in the cultural and tourism sectors, improving the social and cultural well-being of the village, and ultimately discouraging depopulation.

The project’s purpose was to develop a territorial awareness rooted in the value of the village, its natural surroundings, and experiential tourism, through education, creative planning, sustainability, inclusivity, and the promotion of cultural and environmental assets.

Interventions: Revitalization, Culture, Tourism, and Services

    The main interventions included:

    1. Renovation and restoration of part of the Convent of San Giovanni da Capestrano to create an Artistic and Cultural Residence and digitize the Convent’s library assets.
    2. Exhibition setup for artifacts from local archaeological sites and items from the convent library.
    3. Organization of summer schools, masterclasses, and artistic events.
    4. Enhancement of the village, ancient fountains, and medieval churches through diagnostics and digitalization of artistic heritage, creating 3D virtual tours and multispectral imaging.
    5. Mapping of the territory to create cultural routes—physical, virtual, and immersive—through historic villages.
    6. Valorization of the Italic-Roman theater and the Capestrano archaeological area.
    7. Creation of equipped camper areas near sports facilities.
    8. Development of a multifunctional hub: an info point with educational, commercial, and coworking areas at the Church of Santa Maria di Loreto in Presciano, including restoration of the Presciano fountain.
    9. Territorial animation workshops focused on self-entrepreneurship and opportunities in sustainable tourism, aimed at young people and the unemployed.
    10. Implementation of a communication plan to support the project and its individual activities.

    Ud’Anet’s Activities

As a technology partner, Ud’Anet delivered digital solutions to support the village enhancement:

    • Immersive experiences: Designed AR/VR environments and interactive virtual tours to allow remote exploration of villages and monuments.

    • GIS mapping and smart routes: Integrated cultural content into a GIS platform, enabling advanced digital navigation and access to thematic routes.

    • Digital solutions for visitors: Developed a multilingual website and app to help visitors navigate, book experiences, and access content via QR codes and NFC.

    • Scientific and cultural support: Assisted universities and SABAP with digital tools for protection, cataloging, and accessibility of heritage assets.

    Impacts and Results

The project has created a destination that combines cultural quality with digital experience, strengthening local community identity while offering new opportunities for tourism and economic development.

We are proud to have contributed to building a replicable model of technological innovation applied to culture, capable of enhancing territories rich in history and tradition through advanced digital tools.
